California College of Ayurveda Celebrates 30 Years

California College of Ayurveda Celebrates 30 Years

For three decades, the California College of Ayurveda (CCA) has trained practitioners in the clinical science of Ayurveda from its home in Nevada City, California. As The Union reports, CCA is marking the milestone with a graduation ceremony at the Grass Valley Veterans Hall on September 6, honoring a class of roughly 150 to 200 graduates, including many who studied online.

A Legacy Rooted in Nevada City

Founded in 1995 by Dr. Marc Halpern, CCA has grown from a small program into one of the most respected Ayurvedic institutions in the United States. Over the years, the college has moved locations several times before settling into its current campus on Zion Street as a building with its own history as the former Miners Hospital.

That evolution mirrors Ayurveda's own journey in the West: from a little-understood tradition to a credentialed field with clinical rigor, structured curricula, and a growing base of practitioners serving communities across the country.

A Milestone for the Ayurvedic Community

Thirty years of graduating classes represent a significant contribution to the growth of Ayurveda as a recognized health practice in the US. As CCA welcomes its newest cohort of practitioners into the field, the college's anniversary marks not just an institutional achievement, but a broader moment for how Ayurvedic medicine continues to gain footing in Western wellness and healthcare.
